Stories of Learning and Teaching Online Violin Lessons.

In March 2020, the Schools of Music and Performing Arts in Norway were closed in order to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. The teachers and students at the schools adapted to this sudden change by moving the lessons to online platforms. As part of my ongoing PhD project, I interviewed three violin teachers about their experiences with teaching online. I also observed six online lessons with one of the interviewed teachers. In this presentation, I will tell stories from the lessons and present excerpts from the interviews in order to discuss how the sudden change in the conditions for the lessons affected the teaching and learning done.
