Géza Szilvay – ESTA President

The words “ESTA Conference” might conjure up memories of a buzzing swarm of like -minded friends and colleagues greeting each other, shaking hands and hugging.

We should be exchanging these welcoming hugs in Helsinki this August, but the pandemic has put paid to these plans, preparations and dreams. To uphold the long tradition of the annual ESTA conference, the Central Board looked for alternatives. The success of the Porto Conference encouraged us to plan another online conference. The only difficulty was finding mutually convenient dates.

In olden times when the year started in March and September was the seventh month, people believed  that this beautiful autumnal month radiated energy for growth and development. These days, for many of us the year begins in September when the autumn term starts. We come back from holiday feeling fresh, motivated and ready to take in new ideas.

We look forward to seeing you on 24th, 25th & 26th September.

We are preparing for you all an interesting and useful programme of workshops, lectures, demonstrations and masterclasses. Please come along and participate. We will miss all the warm hugs but at least you do not need to wear a mask!
